Discover the nature of the Costa Brava from Platja d’Aro

The Medes Islands
The Medes archipelago in L’Estartit has seven islets. It is one of the most important marine flora and fauna reserves in the Mediterranean and a place of great value for diving lovers. For 20 years, the protection work carried out has allowed a recovery of the richness of its seabed, aquatic environment and terrestrial environment.

The Montgrí
The Montgrí massif is located between the Baix and Alt Empordà. Its views are unbeatable: you can see a great panorama from the Canigó, passing through the Bay of Roses and the Sierra de Rodes, the coast of L’Estartit and the Medes Islands, and even the plain and the mouth of the Ter river.
Along the way, you will find a great variety of protected flora, ruined hermitages, dunes and paths. It is an excellent unspoilt space, which makes it an element that revalues this environment.
Les Gavarres
The Les Gavarres massif lies between the regions of Baix Empordà and Gironès. It covers a large area and a good number of municipalities: Castell d’Aro, Calonge, Monells, Forallac, La Bisbal, Palafrugell, Palamós, Girona, Madremanya or Llagostera, among others.
Its intense dark green forest is home to a great diversity of vertebrate and invertebrate fauna. The wetlands are inhabited by amphibians; we also find birds and birds of prey, such as the robin or the sparrowhawk. Nor are holm oaks, cork oaks or stone pines lacking. Without doubt, an ideal place for hiking or cycling.
