3 route suggestions to do during your stay at Hotel Platja d’Aro
It combats a sedentary lifestyle, improves cardiovascular health, boosts self-esteem, helps us socialise, improves sleep quality, lets us discover places… At this stage we won’t reveal the long list of benefits of hiking, but it doesn’t hurt to keep them in mind.
The leisure offer in Platja d’Aro is wide: from water sports to visits to the nearest wineries. Hiking, however, is an activity that has been gaining prominence in recent years. And we’re not surprised at all.
A whole day of hiking along the Girona coast is a perfect plan. The Camins de Ronda let you discover extraordinary Costa Brava landscapes and spectacular sea views from the cliffs. The beaches and hidden coves you find along the way alone make the experience worthwhile.
Below, we suggest three options to turn you into a real hiking fan, if you aren’t one already. Find your most comfortable footwear and grab a good map, the route is starting!
From Lloret de Mar to Tossa de Mar
It is a 12 km coastal route full of cliffs. It’s true that it’s a route that requires good physical fitness, although you can also stop at the numerous places that will win you over, such as Cala de Porto Pi, Cala Figuera or Cala de Allà on Raja l’Aigua.
The excursion ends at Platja des Codolar, beneath the medieval walls of Tossa de Mar. A stroll through this beautiful town and the climb up to its famous lighthouse is a magnificent way to put the finishing touch to the route.
To return you can check the taxi or bus services, consider leaving the car in Tossa de Mar from the start or, if you’re fit, return following the GR-92 markings.
From Palamós to Calella de Palafrugell
These 9 km are reputed to be one of the most beautiful of the Costa Brava Camí de Ronda. You can start from Platja de la Fosca in Palamós. On your way you will find everything from paradisiacal coves to the remains of Iberian settlements.
Before reaching Calella and delighting in its beaches, you will pass by the Cap Roig Botanical Garden. You’ll surely be left wanting to visit it another day.
The return options are practically the same as in the previous itinerary: check the bus or taxi service, have left the car in Calella or follow the GR-92 markings to avoid the slopes.
From Cadaqués to Cap de Creus
Shortly after leaving Platja de Cadaqués you will pass the Salvador Dalí House-Museum, which is surely the best way to start the excursion. The approximately 7 km of this route run through the Cap de Creus Natural Park, which is a unique natural landscape.
The beaches of des Jonquet, Sant Lluís, La Jugadora or Guillola will give you the chance to bathe in calm, crystalline waters. As you approach the tip of Cap de Creus you can admire one of the best panoramas of the Alt Empordà. You can leave the car at the Cap de Creus lighthouse or check the taxi service for the return.
Protect yourself from the sun, stay hydrated and choose comfortable clothing. And of course, don’t forget to share your photos on social media to be the envy of your friends. We look forward to seeing you at Hotel Platja d’Aro!
